Frequently
Asked Questions on PACS Bundles
How
are the bundles priced?
Bundles
are configured and sized by a range of studies performed per year.
Pricing varies with the bundle's size.
What
is included in the bundle for my sized site?
The
details of the number of items, integration units and training
included for each sized bundle can be found on our web site at
www.brit.com.
If
my site needs more items than that listed in the bundle, do I have
to purchase the next larger bundle?
No,
you can always buy more items for a given sized bundle.
Is
Modality Worklist Supported?
Yes,
MWL is optionally supported, as it requires order information. It is
bundled with one of the following: an HL-7 interface, the optional
RIS or the more limited Order Entry module.
What
is the price per study of the off-site, disaster recovery storage?
There
is no additional charge for this storage unless the site goes over
the limit for the size category. After that, there is a per study
charge capped so that the total yearly costs never exceed the
contracted price for the actual size category. For example, if a
site contracts for under 2500 studies per year and they perform 4000,
they would never pay more than the service charge for the 4000 study
range. Call BRIT for an estimated cost.
What
is the price of the entire package?
The
price varies by size. Call BRIT at 800-230-7227 and we will put you
in touch with a sales specialist or send an email to
salesinfo@brit.com.
If
the local PACS/RIS fails, can my site operate from the off-site
server?
Yes, if synchronization is purchased,
then the site can operate immediately. If not, then there is some
delay while the database loads.
What is the function of the
Roentgen Files Burner that is included?
The CD burner provides the facility a
method of providing a CD with studies and a viewer to a patient. It
is not intended to be used as a second copy of the study as this is
supported over a VPN.
Are
HL-7 interfaces supported?
Yes,
the cost will depend on the workflow/ messages required.
Is
a billing package included?
No, but
integration to billing packages can be quoted.
How
can I get my studies back at the end of the contract?
All
of your studies will be stored locally; the remote copy is just for
disaster recovery. But, the remote studies can be pulled at will as
long as a contract remains in place. The offering provides a monthly
fee to retain the server on-line without storing new studies.
Alternatively, BRIT can destroy the studies at the end of the
contract.
What
bandwidth is required for this offering?
The
bandwidth requirement will vary with volumes. Even large sites can
be supported by T-1 speeds (1.5 mb/sec), though.
Can
the web viewer be run from the off-site server?
This
is attractive if your site has limited bandwidth and it can be done
with the optional synchronization package.
There
appears to be two viewers included: BRIT LIte and BRIT View. How
do they differ?
BRIT
View is the more advanced viewer that can be used for primary
diagnosis and it can be used to set exam statuses, view MPRs, build
teaching files, support multiple monitors and perform the
technologists QC functions. It can connect to multiple DICOM Server.
BRIT Lite is designed for the more casual user; it only supports a
single monitor and it retrieves studies from The Roentgen Files.
They are both Windows-based. For more information, see BRIT
View vs BRIT Lite.
