BRIT Systems’ Roentgen Burner is a DICOM-compliant automated solution for producing custom-labled CDs and/or DVDs that contain medical images plus BRIT’s image viewing software. Radiological studies can be sent to this device from any DICOM workstation on the network.

The Roentgen Burner combines BRIT’s production server with one of Rimage’s CD and/or DVD production systems, which includes the following models: Protege II, Amigo II, Autostar II, and the new Endeavor, made specifically for lower-volume environments. It also includes the Rimage 1500 and 4500 desktop models and the 2000i.

The Roentgen burner accepts studies from any DICOM device via a DICOM store, and directs the Rimage production system to:

• Load the media (CD-R or DVD-R)
• Automatically create a label based on customizable options
• Burn the images, along with BRIT’s easy-to-use Radiology Workbench for Windows image viewer, onto the media
• Verify the data
• Output the media into a bin
• Create additional copies as requested by the user at the BRIT Viewer.

A specific and detailed order file is produced for each order going to the burner. The order file contains the information needed to record to the disc(s). Each order file includes unique information about the user, the patient, specific modality, and the images to be burned to disc.

When used with the Roentgen Files Server, job information also is sent to the Server, where the following information is logged into a patient’s access file: name of the user requesting the CD, date and time of creation, and studies included. From within The Roentgen Files, user with the proper privileges can request a CD and/or DVD without the step of loading the studies into a workstation. From BRIT’s workstations you can include multiple studies and/or a subset of exam images to be included. All annotations and key object notes (sticky notes) also will be included with saved and burned images.
